I was uninstalling some software from my Windows XP machine (mainly
games) from the add/remove programs screen, and after removing a few
progs, I looked at my desktop to see that all the files had gone.
Only the folders and My Computer were left. The quick launch icons
have also gone and the start menu is all but empty.

I had a look in Documents and Settings folder and all files have been
deleted from every account. The files are still there but there is
nothing in them.

Any idea what I've done?

Sorry, but you won't get much of an answer to your problems from this news
group. You see, here in the COMP.WINDOWS.X.APPS newsgroup we discuss
applications that use the X graphical windowing system for their presentation
layer. Your problem doesn't appear to have anything to do with the subject
matter of this newsgroup, and your question should probably be asked in one of
the comp.os.ms-windows.* newsgroups instead.

Sorry

Not really.

Do you have a question about X applications? That is, applications
written for the X Window system? After all, that's the topic of
discussion in this newsgroup...
