Anyone got any clue how to solve this:
Whenever I try to use Mozilla or Netscape for a long period of time
(usually when I write a long email) it actually causes the computer to
crash (linux) I get a pattern of coloured vertical stripes on my screen,
and the computer becomes *completely* unresponsive. The only solution is
the reset button on my PC... any clues? I figure it must be a hardware
error since it has only started when I started using my upgraded
computer... I have a rather obscure SiS Video card and quite an old
motherboard.... but I haven't heard of this happening with anyone else,
and since I have tried about 4 different variants of Linux with the same
result, I'm flummoxed.

Any Ideas? (apart from get a new Graphics card)

Try a different X server. Commercial X server manufacturers usually have free trial versions. Or try upgrading XFree86.
If that fails try lowering your AGP bus speed.
If that fails, get a new gfx/mainboard.
