help: can't install applications

hi.

suddenly i am having trouble installing or even updating certain
applications, most notably Yahoo! Messenger and ZoneAlarm. I am able
to download the program or update, but then when I try to open the
installation program by clicking on the icon, nothing happens.

With IM I uninstalled and downloaded again, but nothing doing.

Any ideas? Thanks.

IIRC, these are MSWindows programs.

If so, then you've got the wrong group. The comp.windows.x.apps group discusses
applications that use the X networking protocol in a windowed GUI environment,
and has nothing to do with Microsoft Windows other than discussing that very
limited group of MSWindows apps that use X. Neither Yahoo Messenger nor
ZoneAlarm fall into that catagory.

You'd probably get a better answer if you asked your question in one of the
comp.os.ms-windows.* newsgroups.
